How does hair removal work?
The hair follicle is harmlessly destroyed using a specially patented pulse light. The pulse light is absorbed by the pigment in the skin. The pulse reaches the hairfollicle causing the affected hair to fall out on its own.

Back

How long does the treatment take?
The treatment is not complete after one session. Hair has various phases: resting, trasitional and actively growing. There are various growth phases depending on the area to be treated. For the face the cycle takes 4-6 weeks, for the underarms and bikini zone 8-12 weeks, and for the legs every 4-6 weeks.

Back

How long do the results last?
This is permanent hair removal. Sometimes, after years have past, new hair cells develop that were not present at the time of treatment. A difference must be made between these new cells and those that were treated.

Back

Is surrounding skin tissue damaged during treatment?
Surrounding skin tissue is unharmed by the treatment.

Back

How deep does the laser penetrate the skin?
Can it cause an allergic reaction? We use a pulse light. A test is done for depth.

Back

Are there any possible allergic reactions?
There have been no allergic reactions to this treatment reported.

Back

What are the possible side effects?
Normal side effects consist of temporary redness and symptoms similar to sunburn that can subside in a matter of hours to 3-4 days. Freckles can temporarily or permanently fade or disappear. Hair may also be removed when a discolored vascular lesion is removed. Other risks include scabbing, peeling, infection, scarring, and swelling. Sometimes the desired results are not obtained.

Back

Is the treated skin more sensitive after treatment?
The treated skin is more sensitive to heat for a short period after treatment.

Back

How many sessions are necessary to obtain the desired results?
4-7 sessions are needed to obtain desired results.

Back

Can it be used with every skin type?
Pulse light treatment is not for every skin type. It cannot be used to treat very dark skin.

Back

Is treatment painful?
Little pain is associated to this treatment.

Back

Do I have to stop sunbathing during the treatment period and does sunbathing affect results?
Heat sources like the sauna should be avoided for a week following treatment. Direct sunlight and soloriums should be avoided for four weeks before and after treatment. Direct sunlight has an adverse effect on results.

Back

Can the treated area be exposed to sunlight after surgery?
Yes, five weeks following treatment depending on the area treated.

Back

Is there any long-term research or results pertaining to laser hair removal?
We value the experience we have had with pulse light.

Back

Is hair removal using a light pulse the same as using a laser?
Light pulse uses seven different wavelengths (colors). Laser treatment is monochromatic.

Back

Can the treatment be done while pregnant?
Treatment should not be done during pregnancy.
