What happens in an initial consultation?
Wrinkles (worry and frown lines etc.) and flexibility are checked and the depth and extent of tightening needed is determined.
Back
How does Botox work?
Botulinum toxin either completely or 50-60% immobilizes the muscles causing the wrinkle for a specified amount of time.
The muscles can no longer move as a result leaving the skin above relaxed and wrinkle free.
Back
How does the shot work?
Emler’s ointment is applied to the skin of sensitive patients so that they don’t feel the shot. The points to be injected have already been decided at this point. The injections are done quickly and correctly by a routine surgeon. The patient barely notices the injections.
Back
When are results show?
Results appear after 3 to 14 days depending on the patient. The effect on motor movement and its relationship to wrinkle formation is noticable after this period.
Back
How safe is the treatment?
Success is guaranteed if the proper places are chosen for injection and the treatment is carried out properly.
Back
Is Botox always possible?
Botox is almost always possible for patients with worry lines, frown lines, and crow's feet.
Back
Does an inpatient stay have to be scheduled?
Absolutely no inpatient stay is necessary.
Back
When will I be fit and ready to get back to daily life again?
The patient is usually presentable the same day of the treatment.
Patients with many small and fine blood vessels invisible to even the surgeon may have develop small blue marks which stay for 1-2 days. During this time the marks can be covered using face powder or facial cream.
Back
What precautions should be taken after the operation?
The patient should not use facial cream or face powder on the first day following the treatment so the face has time to heal. The treated area should be kept cool.
Back
Will there be any visible scarring?
There is no visible scarring.
Back
Are there any risks or side effects?
Extremely restricted muscle movement and visible paralysis of the area can result if the injections are made in the wrong places or the wrong dosages are used. A good knowledge of anatomy is necessary to find the right points for the injections and dosages should be measured and dispensed exactly.
Back
What type of anesthesia is used and will I have to stay overnight?
Anesthesia is not necessary. Emler’s ointment can be used for more sensitive patients.
Back
Can I see before and after photos?
Before and after photos are not necessary for this treatment.
